New Baby, New House, Being Thankful and Kiwiana for the Win!!

Pia Wesley at the market

What was the most challenging thing you’ve had to manage in 2020??

Well, we unexpectedly bought a new house just weeks before our fourth baby arrived. Demi and I came home on a Friday and we had our first open home on Sunday!! Moving house with a newborn is quite the challenge…

How has Covid affected you personally..??

We are very lucky that we haven’t been too affected by it all.

Use five words to describe 2020

Just one word…. ‘unprecedented’. But also, ‘thankful’ to live in New Zealand.

What are you most looking forward to in 2021 (and beyond)??

Hopefully, a return to normality, which is possible for us in New Zealand but I don’t think the same can be said for the rest of the world.

What is your favourite Christmas memory or tradition?

The kids and I make sugar cookies using our Christmas cutters. The kids make a huge mess decorating them and we leave a couple out for Santa on Christmas Eve.

What do you like to eat at Christmas?

Fresh strawberries, vibrant salads, roast potatoes, lamb and my Mum’s chocolate and berry trifle!

Who do you normally spend Christmas with and is there anyone you will be missing this year due to covid?

We split our time between mine and my husband’s parents. My Mum sometimes has to work at Christmas, and those years, we’ll have an early Christmas with her and then actual Christmas with my in-laws. I’m not mad about that though… I get to enjoy all the delicious food twice!!!

Hive Pack of Beeswax Wraps

What is your most popular (and/or your favourite) Christmas product and why?

My customers’ favourite product at Christmas is definitely our kiwiana themed packs!! The pohutukawa print is so symbolic of summer beach holidays here in New Zealand and they make a great gift.

What’s your top tip to help people that want to support small Kiwi businesses this year..??

If you’re searching for a product online, scroll down past the ads and major chain stores. They are the ones that can pay the big money to be up there. Further down you will find the smaller nz businesses; make sure you subscribe!

What can customers expect when they shop with YOU (versus a high street chain store)…??

A high-quality product, with attention to detail. I wrap my items beautifully and include personal touches like a handwritten note. And my customers receive no plastic whatsoever in their parcels.

Pia has been with Green Elephant for over 5 years now. She’s come a long way in this time, not only with her business but the rest of her life too; she has moved house twice, had two more children and got married….!! The latest addition to her family is pictured above (and below); I bet she’s popular at the markets!!! Pia has always been fantastic to work with. She’s reliable, friendly and she always delivers top notch customer service. We’re so grateful to have her as part of our marketplace team.

If you’re looking for beeswax wraps; a sustainable choice for all sorts of food storage and covering, Pia’s are some of the best out there!! Head over to her Green Elephant Store to check out her range of designs.
