Product Information

Ask this Vendor a Question

Helping you connect with your inner self, meditation is a powerful and life-altering skill that is supported with the aid of a set of mala beads. Mala beads are essentially a counting aid that helps you keep track of a mantra or prayer during the course of your meditation practice.

This Mala features hand-turned recycled Rimu wood beads. Rimu is a stunning timber, native to New Zealand, sometimes called Red Pine. It is one of the most prized and treasured timbers in New Zealand and all timber production is now sustainably managed. The wood for these particular beads is 100% recycled material from homes destroyed in the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes – making this wood very, very special. It retains the memories and spirit of the homes and families from where it comes.

I use Rimu in all of my malas to encourage connection with the abundance of mighty Mother Earth. It is intended to help keep your soul and spirit grounded as you meditate, further enhancing your meditation practice.

In alignment with traditional practices, this Mala comes with 108 wooden counting beads measuring 6-8mm, a large wooden guru bead approx 12-15mm, marker beads 10-12mm (at intervals of 27) and a tassel of your choice of color (colors align with traditional chakra colors – others are available, so please feel free to inquire). If you would like a shorter mala, please also feel welcome to inquire.

To find out more about using your mala beads, and suggested meditation practices, please visit for more information. You are most welcome to get in touch directly if you would like a custom mala made, or if you have any questions about the mala or meditation in general.

Sizings:  Please be aware that I use a US ring sizing system.  I strongly recommend that you have your ring sizing professional assessed before getting a custom ring made in my store.  Unfortunately, many styles simply cannot be resized - either up or down .  If there has been a genuine miscommunication I will work with you to reach a mutually agreed solution.  However, you are responsible for providing me with the correct sizing information at the time of ordering.  Please let me know if you need any help with this process.

Each and every bead is turned by hand on my own wood lathe and then drilled, polished and strung by hand. I make the tassels by hand.
